Q: Would you pay for a volvo C30 ?
Is it worth it to pay for a C30 ( since it is now ownos by ford ) or should I consider buying another car for the price?

A: There is a lot of mis-education and ignorant talk about Volvo's ownership by Ford Europe. With all of the behind-the-scenes folks I get to speak with from Ford and Volvo, the consensus is that Volvo is as much a stand-alone company as they ever were, but now with a much larger bankroll supporting them and the a constant circulatory system of parts available in the U.S. either in-stock or available next-day. Volvo is a Scandinavian company and that shows through in how Scandinavians tend to be very VERY proud of what they do and how they do it. Look at Ikea, Lego, and Volvo. They are all Scandinavian companies that have an almost obstinate pride int NOT having a "me too" attitude. They do their own thing and they focus on beauty, clean design forms, simplicity, and functionality. Volvo's response to Ford's ownership is almost a stubborn resistance to suck Ford's designs into theirs. Volvo essentially invented vehicle safety (they invented seat belts, three-point seat belts, airbags, curtain airbags, anti-lock brakes, stability and traction control, etc...all things that are required in every vehicle now) and they know what they do well. People that appreciate Volvos are people that appreciate individuality and confidence in their decisions, without needing to try and impress the neighbors with showy emblems and other things that don't add to the substance of the car.) Volvo believes in protecting people and making vehicles easy to use and able to do what people need them to do. They do allow Ford to use their safety inventions in their other vehicles, but you will never see such a comprehensive rolling showcase for safety and substance until you experience it from the source. They are resistant to Ford doing to their brand what GM did to Saab...watering it down and platform sharing with Saturn, Chevy, and GMC. It's well known throughout the industry that there is one company that boldly proves that what they do, they do best, and stands alone in what they are inventing for the future models, and that's Volvo. They are the kid on the block that everyone hates because he's content learning to master the guitar while the "popular kids" are all drinking wine coolers in the neighbor kid's garage. They know what they do well and they don't care what the majority of others are doing. At present time, as a matter of fact, there is one company making a bid to buy Volvo away from Ford...and that's the other company that stands on their own...BMW. The C30 will be a brilliant vehicle and willnot share a bolt with a generally-available Ford domestic model. If you like it, get it!

Q: How do I re-set the maintenance light on my 2007 Volvo C30?

Q: what do you think of the 2008 volvo c30 hatchback?
I test drove one today and they are really quick. I also have a MIni Cooper S I think they are really similar the volvo has 227 bhp with a 5cyl turbo very peppy

A: I think it is hot!!! the backward look is great!... I think the front is also looking as an V40 s and everything inside is terrific° I think it is a smart pick!

Q: What do you think of the Volvo C30? Is this a car worth purchasing? Why or why not?
What is good about it? What is bad about it? Where is the engine made? Is this a twin to one of the Mazda models?

A: Yes the car is worth purchasing. It's a good looking car. Modern and edgy design that is supposed to appeal to a younger active audience. Don't really see anything bad about it. I don't like coupes so 2 doors would be annoying to me. The engine is Swedish, the car is Swedish, company is owned by Ford so you will see Ford markings all over the car. I work on them for a living trust me it's all Volvo. The Mazda cars share the Volvo platform. Mazda uses Volvo platform. Mazda is a Mazda. Mazda uses their own engines, and other components. As far as the C30 goes, it's a good car. I don't see any problems with them at my shop.

Q: How many golf balls are in this Volvo C30?
by guessing the right number you earn a chance to win this Volvo C30 at www.guessitright.com. Does anybody know how many golf balls it would take? Any advise is appreciated. Thank you.

A: basically what he said ^. go to your local dealer, if they don't have the data you need at hand, take a tape measure with you and estimate the area you need to fill taking into account under seats glove boxes etc. take the mass of the ball and compute. the gimmick on these is that golf balls are expensive, often times they use fillers like boxes to cut down on the expense of the balls and to thwart educated guessers such as yourself. I would go with what you know though. make your calculations and hope for the best. good luck.

Q: When will the Volvo C30 be available in the US?
While it is already available in Europe, an exact date that they will appear in dealerships in the US is hard to come by. Or not at all. Also, what engines will be available? How about Diesel?

A: fall 2007. 2.5 L 5-cylinder turbo engine, for now, same as the one in the S40 T5. No diesel.

Q: Is the Volvo C30 a good car?
I'm looking to lease the Volvo C30 because I like the sporty look of it. Is this a good car? How can I get a good deal on it?

A: Yeah, basically all current year Volvo's are good cars.

Q: Can a Volvo C30 be both automatic and manual?

A: Not really. Some automatic transmissions have a 'manual selection' mode (sometimes called 'tiptronic'), where you can tell the transmission when to shift up or down, but the gear change is actually still made by the automatic transmission, and is often pretty slow. (I've driven automatics with this feature, and it gets old pretty quick). So unlike a real manual transmission, you have no clutch pedal, you don't directly control the gear selection (the auto transmission's computer sometimes won't let you make the change), and you don't get the fuel efficiency benefits of a manual transmission. In CNET's review of the 2008 C30, they write: "Our big regret was that our C30 came optioned with a five-speed automatic transmission, rather than the standard six-speed manual. This automatic seemed to hold back the potential of this car, with little inclination to downshift as we hit the brakes before a hard turn. Even in manual gear selection mode, we found the transmission sluggish, taking too much time to perform the up- or down-shift we selected. However, this transmission performed all right under hard acceleration, holding gears to about 6,000 revolutions per minute."

Q: What is the crash test rating for the 2008 Volvo C30?
What is the crash test rating for Volvo C30?

A: 4-star

Q: Should i get a volvo c30 or mini cooper s? im getting a new car and these are my choices but which one?

A: I agree with Vavavoom. The C30 is faster, safer, cheaper and more reliable than a Mini Cooper. (BTY the Cooper is NOT sold out in the United States. Our BMW lot has plenty of them.) I actually had the opportunity to drive one for a week and had a heck of allot of fun in it. I took on an Audi TT and blew him away. He even gave me a thumbs up when he caught up after we slowed down. There is so much more structure to the C30 which gives it more curb weight allowing for much better handling. The best thing to do it see for yourself. Go drive each on the same day and compare for yourself. Also, the T5 engine that comes standard in the C30 is a Consumer Reports top 10 engine. It is time tested for 12 years and makes the C30 a Rocket! If you have any further questions, feel free to email me at rbulmer@gengras.com

Q: Do you think Volvo C30's will depreciate a lot?
I really like these cars, and I'm pretty sure they just came out. I can't really afford one, how much do you think they'll depreciate in say, 2 years? Thanks.

A: Here is a way to figure this out. A 2 year old S60 that stickered for $35000 are selling now for @$25000. That's about a 70% drop. That being said, a $27000 C30 should be around $18900 in 2 years. Both of these prices include a $1200 certified warranty that would be in your best interest to make sure is included. If you have any other questions, feel free to email me at rbulmer@gengras.com
