Q: Does anyone know how to get to the taillight bulbs in a 2002 Volvo S60?
My wife's Volvo has a taillight bulb out and I don't want to pay the Volvo shop $100 an hour to replace the bulb. I don't see how the light comes off from the outside. Is it a matter of removing the inside panel in the trunk to get to the bulb assembly? Any assistance is appreciated.

A: try accessing it from the inside. there should be a door like thing when you open the trunk. look on the backside of the taillight and check for a door or something. it should be there. also check the manual. it should tell you there as well. these things are usually easily done by yourself. no need for mechanic. good luck

Q: How many miles can I safely expect from my 2002 Volvo S60?
I'm doing some long term budgeting and would like to keep this car on the road as longggggggg as possible. I've kept the car on its scheduled maintenance as recommended by Volvo and done all oil changes. It has about 86,000 miles on it.

A: Replace cooling system thermostat every 30k mi.,use synthetic engine oil, use premium gasoline(91 octane),replace timing belt a few thousand miles before it's due, water pump, thermostat and all timing belt tension pulley and idler pulley every time t-belt replaced.I guarantee 300k mi. or more on your car.Oh, and complete car detail every six months or up to a year. http://www.popularmechanix.com

Q: Do i have to use Premium gasoline in my 2002 VOLVO S60?
Do i have to use Premium gasoline in my 2002 VOLVO S60? I'm picking it up on Thurs. and i'd like to know in advance if its necessary, i'm hoping NOT considering the price of gas. I would love feedback from others who own the S60 themselves. Thanks.

A: it depends on what is recommended, use what the manual says the reason for that is the engine is set up to burn gas at the proper octane range so if you use the incorrect grade it will burn the gas inefficiently and you will be wasting your money on gas. higher octane gas burns slower but if it recommended you use low grade use it. Follow the manual.

Q: Can you add a turbo on a 2002 Volvo S60?
It is a 2.4t. Other S60's have turbos but I have the cheap one that doesn't. So can you get the turbo that the other ones do? If so where and how much? I know the "t" is for turbo. But im telling you, there is no turbo on it and it says 2.4t on the back.

A: An s60 2.4t already has a turbo, it is a light pressure turbo, thats what the t means in the 2.4t. And the answer would be no, you cannot add a turbo to a non turbo charged engine on a late model car, first of all it would be a serious emissions system modification, also the internal engine components are different to handle to higher pressures and heat in the combustion chamber of a turbo charged engine.

Q: I'm going to an auction and im debating on a 2002 volvo s60 with 144000 miles. How much should I bid?

A: kelley blue book for a base model s60 said $6400 to $8000. the t5 model from $8400 to $10400. these were private party values in the pennsylvania area. your area might have different pricing

Q: How can I fix the faded weather stripping on my 2002 Volvo s60?
My car is white, but the piping along the top of the car and along the doors has become tarnished and gray. I can't seem to clean it up!

A: I have a 2002 volvo with what i think is the same problem and it not weather stripping. Thats what keeps the water out of your car when you close the door. I have asked around here and the only thing I have heard is to replace it. I have a C 70 and i think it was gonna cost me like $200 or so....

Q: can a 2002 volvo s60 engine last over 200k miles?
My friend is selling this car for 6,000 dollars, it has around 100,000 miles on it. He is saying that this car's engine can go over 200,000 miles easily, is this true?

A: volvo cars are tanks..i own a rwd 760 gle with 215,000 miles and still running strong and burning no oil..jus maintain the vehicle..ur gonna have more electrical problems than engine problems volvo switches like to break...but fcpgroton.com is your best friend..i have seen 2 volvo 740's at 3-400,000 miles still runnning ...rwd volvo is the way to go

Q: Is the 2002 volvo s60 a reliable car?
I am looking at buying that, or a 2001 celica. I am a teenager and this would be my first car. Which one is better performance, reliablity, handling, all of the normal stuff. Thanks.

A: The Volvo would be safer, and would be a good car to drive, especially with the 2.5L Turbo motor. They also have a good reliability reputation. Good luck.

Q: Help! I had my oil changed in my 2002 Volvo s60 last week. ?
There is a puddle of what looks like oil on the floor of my garage. The car is running as usual, no lights. Any ideas?? I checked the dipstick and the oil is still there. Unfortunately, the oil on the dipstick is looks and smells identical to the oil on my garage floor.

A: Possibly the oil drain plug is loose. Before you run the car use your dipstick to make sure you haven't lost a significant quantity of oil then get back to where you had the work done. They owe it to you to check for the source.

Q: I just got a 2002 volvo s60, i got a remote key, but its not programmed/cut to the car, how do i program it?
The lady i bought the car from gave me this wireless key that she got from her auto dealer friend and she said that she found out it would cost 150 to get it cut to the car and programmed to it. Is there anyway i can just program it to the car myself and get it cut the car without having to go through the dealership!

A: No, you must take it somewhere to have it done. At the dealer, they will hook up your car to Volvo's diagnostic program, VIDA, and download new key software in order to input the key's serial number and program it to the car. Now, is it a Volvo key, and do you have the plastic package it came in. If you do not, you will never get that key programmed. The tech at the dealer has to have the numbers on the sticker that is stuck to the plastic package the key comes in. Even if you could get just the key blade cut to the car's ignition, it will not work because the key sends a signal out that the car reads everytime you start the car to make sure that the right key is being used. Hope this helps.

Q: Will a dirty air filter make a check engine light come on in a 2002 Volvo S60?

Q: 2002 volvo S60 vs a 2002 subaru impreza?
Hi my name is ryan and i want a car that is quick but also relyable and under 10 grand. i am looking at 2 options which is a 2002 volvo s60, 98000 miles 9800 dollers fully loaded turbo which is around 250 Hp. and a 2002 subaru impreza 2.5 RS is 165 Hp non turbo which has 102000 miles for about 8900 dollers. Which 1 would you choose remember i would rather have it last longer thanks

A: Go with the Impreza it will be a better buy because the Volvo(Ford) will cost more to maintain. The Subaru s more reliable than the Volvo of that model year.
