Q: Does anyone know how to get to the taillight bulbs in a 2002 Volvo S60?
My wife's Volvo has a taillight bulb out and I don't want to pay the Volvo shop $100 an hour to replace the bulb. I don't see how the light comes off from the outside. Is it a matter of removing the inside panel in the trunk to get to the bulb assembly? Any assistance is appreciated.
A: try accessing it from the inside. there should be a door like thing when you open the trunk. look on the backside of the taillight and check for a door or something. it should be there. also check the manual. it should tell you there as well. these things are usually easily done by yourself. no need for mechanic. good luck

I'm doing some long term budgeting and would like to keep this car on the road as longggggggg as possible.
I've kept the car on its scheduled maintenance as recommended by Volvo and done all oil changes. It has about 86,000 miles on it.

Do i have to use Premium gasoline in my 2002 VOLVO S60? I'm picking it up on Thurs. and i'd like to know in advance if its necessary, i'm hoping NOT considering the price of gas. I would love feedback from others who own the S60 themselves. Thanks.
A: it depends on what is recommended, use what the manual says the reason for that is the engine is set up to burn gas at the proper octane range so if you use the incorrect grade it will burn the gas inefficiently and you will be wasting your money on gas. higher octane gas burns slower but if it recommended you use low grade use it. Follow the manual.
Q: Can you add a turbo on a 2002 Volvo S60?
It is a 2.4t. Other S60's have turbos but I have the cheap one that doesn't. So can you get the turbo that the other ones do? If so where and how much?
I know the "t" is for turbo. But im telling you, there is no turbo on it and it says 2.4t on the back.
A: An s60 2.4t already has a turbo, it is a light pressure turbo, thats what the t means in the 2.4t. And the answer would be no, you cannot add a turbo to a non turbo charged engine on a late model car, first of all it would be a serious emissions system modification, also the internal engine components are different to handle to higher pressures and heat in the combustion chamber of a turbo charged engine.

I checked the dipstick and the oil is still there. Unfortunately, the oil on the dipstick is looks and smells identical to the oil on my garage floor.
A: Possibly the oil drain plug is loose. Before you run the car use your dipstick to make sure you haven't lost a significant quantity of oil then get back to where you had the work done. They owe it to you to check for the source.

The lady i bought the car from gave me this wireless key that she got from her auto dealer friend and she said that she found out it would cost 150 to get it cut to the car and programmed to it.

A: No, you must take it somewhere to have it done. At the dealer, they will hook up your car to Volvo's diagnostic program, VIDA, and download new key software in order to input the key's serial number and program it to the car. Now, is it a Volvo key, and do you have the plastic package it came in. If you do not, you will never get that key programmed. The tech at the dealer has to have the numbers on the sticker that is stuck to the plastic package the key comes in. Even if you could get just the key blade cut to the car's ignition, it will not work because the key sends a signal out that the car reads everytime you start the car to make sure that the right key is being used. Hope this helps.

A: Go with the Impreza it will be a better buy because the Volvo(Ford) will cost more to maintain. The Subaru s more reliable than the Volvo of that model year.
