Q: Engine check light on 2008 Volvo S60, Only 8K Miles?
A: take it to the dealer or autozone and have them see why its on.
Q: Should I pull the trigger and buy a 2008 Volvo S60 2.5T AWD (Maple Red) for $26k (taxes included)?
I am iffy on the Maple Red (prefer silver). Can someone give me their oppinion? I'm a 26 yr old sales rep in New England and don't want to drive in something too lame. The car is used and has only 5100 miles on it. Its fully loaded, climate pkg, leather and moon roof pkg, 17" rims and park assist, aluminum inlays. I also have another option that is a silver FWD with only leather and moon pkg for aroung 24500? HELP??
Isn't that the case with any car these days? I see 2005 S60s out there reselling for high teens.
Turns out that the dealer was over promising. Once he checked with the manager, they are now offering $26,900 with taxes on top of it. Apparently, the salesman was being a little optimistic. Still a deal???
A: That deal did seem to be a little to good to be true. Where in New England are you? I am a consultant in East Hartford, CT. We are a no haggle dealer and I can tell you that I have a FWD silver 08 that I could do that deal on. If you are hell bent on the AWD though, it is still a very good deal. One question though... is that a certified price? If not, it is an average deal. I would not buy a Volvo (and I sell them) without being certified. It is a $1200 add on that we already include in our price. If the car above is not certified, it is not such a great deal.

Q: Will you still be able to buy new Volvo S60 R's after 2008?
I want a Volvo but I'm not sure if you can still buy them new after 2008.
ummm...r there anyplace else besides the us u can get the us models?
A: It would really help to know where you live, as different countries get different models.
In the USA you can no longer buy the S60R new
Q: totyota prius i need 3 reasons to buy this car and 3 reasons it wouldn't be a good car to buy.?
Toyota Prius 2008, i need 3 reasons to buy this car and 3 reasons it wouldn't be a good car to buy.
The Volvo S60 2008, i need 3 reasons to buy this car and 3 reasons it wouldn't be a good car to buy.
The Honda Civic DX 2008, i need 3 reasons to buy this car and 3 reasons it wouldn't be a good car to buy.
A: Hm, the Toyota Prius is a midsize hatchback, while the Volvo S60 and Honda Civic DX are all compact sedans (smaller than the Prius), so they're not all that comparable...
Toyota Prius:
http://www.toyota.com/prius/
starting at $21,100 (eCVT transmission, base model Prius)
+AT-PZEV
+roomier than other listed options
+some state incentives (income tax credits or deductions, reduced sales tax or property tax, exempt from emissions/smog testing, single-occupant HOV lane usage, free municipal parking, etc.)
+best fuel economy available in the US http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/best/bestworstNF.shtml
+reliable
+good resale value
+low total cost of ownership (Hybrids do cost less in the long term than their conventional counterparts. (Intellichoice used a 5 year ownership comparison in 2006) See http://www.intellichoice.com/press/Hybrid-Survey-2006 , http://www.intellichoice.com/carBuying101/HypeOverHybrids , http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11637968/ , http://www.cnn.com/2006/AUTOS/08/22/bc.autos.hybrids.reut/index.html )
-stupid people tell you how stupid you were to buy it, and passing along the untrue urban legend about the Prius' battery and vehicle construction, which started with a flawed marketing paper by CNW, a poorly researched article in a student newspaper, and a now retracted article from The Mail... (for example, the hybrid battery is expected to last the lifetime of the car, and is full warranteed (not pro-rated) in the US for 8 years/100,000 miles, and in CA emission states it is further covered for 10 years/150,000 miles, and for this 10 year old car there's only a countable handful of known battery replacements (no prescribed failure/changeout interval).)
-not rated for towing
-only available as an automatic (some people prefer to drive stick/manual)
-distinctive aerodynamic styling, which some people don't like to stand out
(BTW: the Toyota Prius is celebrating its 10 anniversary this year, as the first production hybrid (first sold in Japan in 1997 for the 1998 model year). It was only first sold in the US in 2000 as a 2001 model year. However, the Honda Insight was the first production hybrid sold in the US (in 1999 as a 2000 model year), and yes the manual transmission version had better fuel economy than the Prius, but the Insight has been discontinued since the 2006 model year.)
Check out the April issue of Consumer Reports if you want reliability information. Both the Honda Civic and Toyota Prius make their best bets for new cars and for used cars (but the Volvo S60 isn't in either list).
