A: Very expensive to maintain. These vehicles are overly complicated and can develop problems you're not likely to see in other vehicles. Do your research using the various consumer publications, talking to other owners, etc. Make sure you are using a reputable and reliable dealer. they vary greatly in customer service and overall competence. Personally, I wouldn't have any Volvo newer than the 940 series.

Q: Best 2008 SUVs with third row seating for family?
I currently have a 2006 Acura MDX that is coming off lease and want a new car. I like having a third row option. I currently pay $475 a month for a 36 month lease and would be okay paying up to $600 a month (sign and drive - no money down for taxes, etc.) Anyone have recommendations. Volvo XC90 is nice. Any other thoughts and lease rates?
A: GMC Acadia, Buick Enclave, and Saturn Outlook will have the most USABLE rear seats of ANY 3-row SUV (That even includes Suburbans) but are still moderately sized on the outside.
The Enclave is very nice, they're having trouble keeping them on the lots.
These 3 SUV's get identical gas mileage to the Highlander and a few mpg's better than the Pilot.
Same horsepower as the Highlander, but more powerful than the Pilot.
So let's see... XC90, Pilot, Highlander, Acadia, Outlook, Enclave... that's pretty much it without getting into truck-based SUVs.
All good choices.
If you buy the Highlander make sure to change that oil every 3000 like clockwork or you put yourself at risk of some nasty sludging problems.
